Mrs. Hudson's 3rd grade students geocached using math and reading skills.

Mrs. Hudson likes to combine math and reading in her geocaching activities with her students. Before her students could open each cache they found they had to solve the "key" for the cache which was a math problem. To make sure that all students were engaged each one took a dry erase board, marker, and cloth outside to do the math problems. Solving math problems is fun on the playground! Inside each cache the students found parts of a story. After they found four caches and the four parts of the story they returned to their classroom where they read the story and put the parts in sequential order. Sometimes text features helped the students decide where each part fit in the story. After the story was back in order a discussion of the story took place. Everyone was on task and had a good time!
